Opening up the vault to see the cartoon published one year ago today.

COMING UP AFTER THIS NEWSLETTER.

Nothing much.

I might go make a coffee, not an instant one, but a proper one, using the good beans — and take it outside to sit by the pond for a while. The cat might join me There may be a biscuit. This has not been confirmed.

After that: unclear. Possibly some inking, possibly just sitting. The afternoon has not yet planned.

Tomorrow's newsletter will arrive as scheduled.

THE MARKET REPORT. Ink: steady. Brushes: Clean. Ideas: mixed session. Early promise in the morning gave way to writer’s block in the afternoon. I’m cautiously optimistic about tomorrow. The biscuit tin closed slightly down on yesterday but recovered when a new packet of shortbreads were added.

When not at drawing board i like to escape the studio and follow my other creative passion landscape photography.

ABOUT THIS NEWSLETTER

My goal for this newsletter is modest, to be something to look forward to. A silly funny thing in your inbox that isn't a bill, a reminder, or more doom and gloom.

Just a trusted daily friend where you’ll want to give up a few moments in your day and be transported into an imaginary world.

We’re going to grow together, similar to my stomach after raiding the unguarded biscuit tin in my studio.

Insanity Streak has been drawn every single day since April 1st, 2000. That date was not a coincidence. It has won 15 Stanley Awards for best comic strip — the Oscars of Australian cartooning, voted by my peers. The trophy shelf is holding up surprisingly well.

Insanity Streak is currently published in 15 countries, and estimated to be read daily by over one million readers, which is either a testament to the engaging capacity of comics, or a major clerical error that has gone unnoticed.

This newsletter exists because while print media is wonderful, scientists have placed it on the endangered list due to lack of sustainable food in the region.

Disclaimer:

Reading this newsletter may cause mild amusement, spontaneous smirking, improved mental health, and a sudden urge to ignore your actual work. If symptoms persist, keep reading.

No cartoonists were harmed in the making of this newsletter, although I did endure a nasty papercut while fixing the paper jam in my printer.

Keep the Streak Alive. This comic runs on ink, coffee, and reader love. If you want to help me keep drawing every single day, consider subscribing to this newsletter.

The opinions expressed in this newsletter are those of a man who has been drawing Insanity over and over for 25 years and expecting different results.

Adventure travel built for families

Intrepid Travel has just launched its new Premium Family range — eight new trips across Costa Rica, Sri Lanka, India, Borneo, Vietnam, Morocco, Thailand and Egypt. Small groups of three to five families. Intrepid's most experienced local guides. Immersive, kid-focused activities and elevated stays, with all the logistics handled for you. Watch baby orangutans learn to climb in Borneo. Stargaze at a desert camp in Morocco. Spot leopards on safari in India. These aren't holidays where you watch the world through a window — they're the kind of trips kids remember when they're grown up. Bookings for Intrepid's Family range grew 19% in 2025, and their new Premium tier is their fastest-growing travel style for good reason.
